What do I need to do this.?
It's fairly straightforward to do this if your scanner profiles are built
using ProfileMaker.
First, go to GretagMacbeth's web site and download/install Logo ColorLab.
Next, open your profile in a text editor like BBEdit. In there you'll find a
copy of the reference data (look for LAB/XYZ values) and also the
measurement data in RGB. Copy/paste the reference and measurement data into
two separate text documents (be sure to include the header data).
Open the reference and measurement data files in Logo ColorLab (it should
look like the scanner target at that point). Now, take the RGB measurement
data and convert this to LAB using you scanner profile (I think it's
Command+M that will get you into the profile conversion dialog). Scanner is
the source profile and LAB is the destination (absolute RI).
Now use the COMPARE function to compare the reference LAB data to your
converted RGB-to-LAB data. Done!
