Hello Michael and thanks for the info.
Is that D50 for printed material and D65 for online/TV content?
Or is it that they use D65-calibrated monitor for prints that will be
checked under D50? This seems to be a no-no but what do I know.
Thanks in advance.

I've been consulting with the Digital Imaging Lab at the National Geographic
Society for about two years (building an ICC-based color workflow), and this
was the first time I had seen mention of 3400K light sources. After talking
with a few very knowledgeable people within the Society over the past week
or so I can confirm that they used to have matched xenon projectors "many
years ago" but now use D50 and D65 white points for print viewing and
monitors respectively.
