I don't know if that answers your question, Roger, but I hope that helps.

Yes, Rob, your reply goes a long way toward answering my question. Thank you
very much.

You mean that custom profiling the D100 on top of Color Mode II is like
"adding cherry on the icing"?
You talked about improvement in contrast and more consistent saturation
through custom profiling. But what about neutrality? I understand you and
Tom are on the same page as Bob Hunt with regards to "not accurate color"
but "pleasing color", but I am curious as to your assessment of the D100
color neutrality as well. At the risk of sounding like an old 33lp player
that is stuck on the same track, I find neutrality such an important piece
of color reproduction that, personnally, I'd be ready to trade some
saturation and contrast for good neutrality. Because I know I can easily fix
saturation and contrast in Photoshop through tone correction but neutrality
aka color balance is hardest to achive.
I appreciate both your comments and those of Tom as I'm in the process of
buying a D-SLR for my work.
