Thanks a million to everyone who responded today. I'm a bit lost on who
all
I got back to but it was very helpful. The bottom line is I know I will
be
dealing with printers who don't know much about what to do with
profiles, so
I'd better look at getting a new one of the monitors suggested for
starters.
Thanks again.
Dear Sharon
Just in case you got too overwhelmed with advice...your first port of
call for your cheque book is a monitor calibrator and software.
Calibrate your monitor and if it's reasonable it will calibrate, if not
you will have to buy a replacement. Bear in mind however that your
monitor, old or new should be even in colour and brightness from corner
to corner and the same goes for sharpness. It is after all your light
box!
Even if you were to go out and buy a middle of the road monitor today,
you still need the calibrator and software! Some of the more expensive
monitors come with their own calibration equipment at much more cost.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Richard
