Having neglected calibrating the newer LCD monitors for a while now,
relying on the CRT's, but calibrator from Optical is a serial
connector....
I'm poised to purchase a calibrator.
choosing between:
squid package from basICColor
or eye-one from gretagMacbeth ?
the basICColor boasts DDS support through optional cable (for CRT's ?!)
and I quote: "Other calibration software just writes LUTs into the
video RAM of your video card and reduces the number of visible colors.
basICColor display automatically calibrates the hardware of your
monitor with the optional DDC cable and thus maintains the highest
quality possible." and "...out-of-gamut colors: A "normal" monitor
profile will clip them to the edges of your monitor gamut. A unique
feature in basICColor display lets you create ICC profiles which
preserve detail in those out-of-gamut colors." and I was told that
basICColor does a better job of determining black point of LCD
displays...
The eye one seems to be what most people use and could be considered
the "industry standard"
opinions, please.
