I posted a question about a yellow monitor profile earlier in the
week and I have a suspicion that the LUT info for the built in LCD
screen is somehow being loaded for the external CRT I have attached.

I tried this with a 17" powerbook using Apple's display calibrator on 10.3 and didn't see this problem. Doesn't sound like a familar issue though. Are you using Apple's calibrator or another one? If another one, try the Display Calibrator (go to Displays and hit the Calibrate button, or launch the app from Applications folder) and see what happens.
