Better leave it on if you use RelCol (for perceptual it makes little/no
difference). If you don't have it on, you will risk closing down your
shadows as all values in your source space lighter than or equal to your
destination black point (rarely darker than Lab 11) will be mapped to this
value.
And for those wondering it's on by default in Photoshop.

BPC should be left ON for everything except proofing.
