I think Jim misread my post, but I thank him for his suggestions no
less. His contributions to this List are always valuable. I
understand that he has a way of working that gives good results, and
I do not question his experience, technique or results in any way.
However, I still want to understand why a straightforward ColorSync
(ICC) workflow is so difficult in this case. Hence I must ask the
question.
To repeat: I have a pretty accurate exposure and processing is also
reasonably consistent (with positive film). Then I would think that
wp and bp should be reasonably consistent between target and image. I
can understand small deviations, but not major changes.
Since the target contains patches corresponding to highlight and
shadow, any scene's content should be covered by the target patches.
So why would major adjustments to wp and bp be required in this case
for each individual image scanned?
Armand
