Now, keep in mind the warning from above -- make sure the driver
will actually USE the registered "Current Profile".
Now here is the problem. It appears as if there is no guaranteed
reliable way for an application to arrange for a null transformation
because the (Tioga) drivers have so much latitude in changing the rules
of the game after the print job is already in the queue and the
application is on to other tasks. From reading the Tioga sample code,
it look like the driver can setup the target profile very, very late in
the game.
Wouldn't it be more simple and predictable to provide
"colorsync-be-gone!" parameter that the application can stuff in the
job ticket and have the colorsync stuff just pass the data on through?
Panther ships with
a number of CUPS-based drivers. If nothing else, you can create a new
print queue just for profiling your printer.
And if you are stuck with a Tioga driver refuses to reveal what it is
doing behind the scenes?
