That's what I'm seeing on Panther as well. On 10.2 the system assumed
Generic RGB for untagged RGB, and now in Panther it appears to be
using the display profile (monitor RGB) for untagged images.
In order to see what's happening I'll sometimes replace a profile with
an obviously wrong profile. For instance I have some profiles which
swap the channels...all the reds will look green, all the greens will
look red. I remove say the Generic RGB Profile and rename the inverted
profile to "Generic RGB Profile" using one of the ColorSync scripts,
and place it in /Sys/Lib/ColorSync/Profiles/, reboot. If that profile
is used in a match it results in obviously wrong colors.
