I'm not sure what it means to get this for free.
I mean if you write a simple graphics app in Cocoa, you inherit the
standard color management behavior of NSImage, which is that images are
matched to the display's profile, unless they're untagged, in which
case the display's profile is assumed and it's basically a no-op.
The difference between that and MacOS9 is that there is a system wide
image architecture in place that automatically recognizes and uses ICC
profiles, namely NSImage and Cocoa. Heh, in MacOS9 it was always a
no-op unless you (a developer writing an app) went out of your way to
do profile matching.
