One of my current pet peeves... My monitor fully supports DDC too, but contrary to what basICColor ads would have you believe, Display will not support that function on my monitor (in fact, it will crash and burn). My last communication from them suggested they had dropped development on DDC control. But I do have the handy-dandy DDC USB cable for "future use." (No discount, of course.)

Stick with manual adjustments.
