No. Assuming monitor space for UNTAGGED data ONLY is neither Photoshop
4 behavior nor MacOS9 behavior.
Photoshop 4 and MacOS9 behavior was to assume monitor space for ALL
images even if they had a profile embedded. That is clearly not what
Cocoa apps are doing on MacOSX.
John, my apologies for bad communication. I wasn't comparing how the two
dealt with tagged vrs untagged, in fact the above was what I was trying
to say. I'm just questioning the wisdom of it. I've found no good use
for my monitor profile other than my own display, though I've seen
others do appalling things with theirs.
I guess claiming I have no idea what I'm talking about doesn't let me
off the hook, you caught me.
