How are you transforming colors using your PrintOpen program? From what you
describe, it sounds like you are converting from 'some' color space to that
of your printer, using your custom PrintOpen profile. If that is the case,
you need to ask yourself what colors are you trying to 'transport' over to
your printer? Because, in theory, there is nothing wrong with having "light
cyan with a little of a yellow in the solid cyan, greenish yellow in the
solid yellow, and dark magenta in solid magenta", an so on. Maybe you're
just unaware of what color management is doing for you but having a profile
that precisely describe your printer color capabilities to a program like
Photoshop does not mean that you have a way to obtain "theoretical" solids
out of your printer.
Can you tell us a little bit more about what you're trying to accomplish?
How are you getting from your image on screen to your printed results?
