You appear to be relating the ink cart colors to document-space colors. Its
very likely that the two will not line up, and that you will get the types
of
effect you describe. The most common example is users who complain that their
yellows are polluted with darker dots, and want them "pure yellow". But the
inks they are using have a paler yellow than the space they are working in, so
the profile attempts, as best it can, to correct for that out of gamut yellow,
by making it darker.
