It seems most people's latest color related issues stem from trying to
invoke color management on the OS level with ColorSync. I've come to think
of ColorSync as more of an idea (or a color architecture) then part of the
OS. Sure, its there for us to use, but it seems to (given the recent flood
of posts to this list regarding this sissue) create more problems than it
solves. I say TURN IT OFF! Do all of your color management up front in
Photoshop. Bruce stated it very clearly in one of his latest posts:

That is the workflow that has been working for me (more or less) in both
OS 9, Jaguar, and Panther.
