Can anyone provide the model number for the Sony monitor that is equivalent
to the Artisan but without the colorimeter? I may be looking at purchasing a
new display but already have an EyeOne, so I don't see the need to pay for
that functionality in the Artisan unless the cost differential is small or
the quality differential is great.
Also, my reason for looking at new displays is that my LaCie Blue III is
dealing me fits with DDC calibration. If I unplug the USB connection and
disable DDC, adjust the guns manually using basICColor Display I get a
pretty nice profile. It ends up driving the Red gun at about 84%. If I use
DDC and let the software adjust the guns, it drives the red gun to 99-100%
and I get a bad red/pink halo on all of my desktop icons... very
distracting. It was suggested that I edit the VCP Setup text file to reduce
the Red max from 254 to around 245 to keep from overdriving the red gun.
Changing this value in 5-unit increments to as low as 230 has not helped.
So, maybe the monitor is just getting tired. Max Luminance as registered in
Display v2.5.4 is around 87. Interestingly, I have virtually the same
problem with three other LaCie IIIs at client's sites. Anyone using
basICColor software with these monitors successfully with DDC enabled?
Thanks,
Mark
