If you're outputting Postscript from Quark , then the named colors will be
included as vector data and or color comments . Better yet you can output to
DCS 2 separated format ensuring your named colors go onto there own plates.
The named colors are not necessarily rgb values yet are looked up in the rip
with associated values that can be Lab, CMYK or other lookup values user or
rip maker designated. I can say that in the Best rip's the CMYK data goes
through it's channels respectfully and the spot colors call the look up
tables for the named colors that are in the Postscript files. The spot
colors then are mapped to the maximum values that the inkjet printer can
produce with the measured paper and base linearisation + resolution
combination. The spot values are editable by measured values and or assumed
values.
