This was also my thought for many years, but now with the new
generations of Inkjet devices a densitometer won't work well. The
problem of a densitometer are the fixed filters. This filters work
well with ISO Colors, but the Inkjet devices often use Inks which are
not inside this standard. If you try to linearize those printers only
with densities you get in confusion, because you reach densities
faraway from your "normal" densities of a press and you don't know
which value you should use for a good linearization. I for myself use
instead of the densities the Lab Values for limiting the Ink per
Chanal and have good results with this methode using Best Colorproof.
I agree with you if you say, that it is an easy way to controle if an
profile is consistence (System Brunner works partly in this way). But
this you can also do with Lab Values, this is the way how Best
controle different Proofinsystems with Best Remotecontrole.
