I hope this forum is not too high end for my modest little system but I am
having one helluva time getting my Epson inkjet printouts to match up to my
onscreen colors in both Illustrator 9 and 10. To the best of my knowledge I
am as calibrated as I can be with the tools I have at my disposal. I9ve
calibrated my monitor using Adobe9s Gamma utility and in the ColorSync
control panel, I chose the profile it created for my monitor in the display
category. Also in the control panel I chose my scanner profile for input and
one of my printer profiles for output (I know enough to change to the other
printer profile beforehand should I choose to print to my other printer). If
there is anything questionable in the ColorSync control panel, it is my
choice for proofer9 which, again, is my monitor (I really didn9t know what
to chose here as proofer9 seems to have some cross-over with both output
and display). In the color settings for both Illustrator 9 and 10 I9ve
chosen the default settings for ColorSync but changed the policies to
convert upon opening9 for both rgb and cmyk. These settings were made in
advance of my document creation and the profiles were embedded in the docs
at time of saving. When it9s time to print, nothing matches up. I believe
I9ve used every possible print dialogue box choice/combination and all to no
avail. This is so very, very disheartening. I9ve come across much advice
touting Adobe RGB 1998 but those settings seem more appropriate to
photographic imagery as it would appear in Photoshop. Regardless, it was not
successful in my Illustrator files. My cmyk color choices are not out of
gamut. What am I overlooking or doing wrong? Any help gotten here to correct
this situation (or put me on the path to correction) will be greatly
appreciated. TIA.
