Hello List,
I seem to be going round in circles with an issue that has come to light
when using OS X and Epson Photo printers and proprietary drivers. I can only
get at the profile selection and rendering intent options if I use Print
Preview in Photoshop. All other applications seem to leave the ColorSync
options missing. Photoshop is not a problem as I can convert to profile and
leave cms off in the print driver, but this is a real pain when trying to
print from iPhoto etc as the images will bring...sometimes...their embedded
profiles along and look fine on screen but I have then no option for
selecting a profile to print.
Ive contacted Epson who have replied but not yet come up with any valid fix.
Does anyone have any solutions/suggestions without having to start writing
Applescripts?
If you choose the ColorSync option in the Epson printer driver, it
automatically selects the correct canned profile based on the media
settings you've made in the driver. No choice of rendering intent,
though -- I think it always uses Perceptual.
Note that in the OS X driver, you MUST set the media settings, then
the color management settings. If you set the color management to
ColorSync, then go back and change the media settings, the colo
rmanagement settings default back to the automatic-with-sliders
setting.
