you don't say what OS you're using. But I'm guessing it's OS9x. have
you set the new monitor profile in the Monitors control panel ? [same
goes for OSX actually].

However, the softproof behaviour is weird, sounds as if Photoshop may
not be using the right monitor profile.

Open Photoshop's <colour settings> and look under <Workingspaces:RGB>
click to open the pulldown and then look upwards a few in the list
[above your normally selected workingspace], there you will see monitor
RGB and next to it the monitor profile you made - we hope. Is it there?
if so that's one problem ruled out.

ps, don't make the mistake of selecting the monitor space as
workingspace, you're just loking here to see which space is being used
by Photoshop.
