you don't say what OS you're using. But I'm guessing it's OS9x. have
you set the new monitor profile in the Monitors control panel ? [same
goes for OSX actually].
However, the softproof behaviour is weird, sounds as if Photoshop may
not be using the right monitor profile.
Open Photoshop's <colour settings> and look under <Workingspaces:RGB>
click to open the pulldown and then look upwards a few in the list
[above your normally selected workingspace], there you will see monitor
RGB and next to it the monitor profile you made - we hope. Is it there?
if so that's one problem ruled out.
ps, don't make the mistake of selecting the monitor space as
workingspace, you're just loking here to see which space is being used
by Photoshop.

respecting the embedded profile? right?

PS 5.5 and interestingly the images look fine in 5.5.
this gets complex, PS 5 has a whole lot of different settings.

The images in PS 5.5 look the same in PS 7.01 with softproof "Monitor

RGB" turned on. Anybody have any clues?
helps?
all the best
