I'm not really sure what is going on here or how Adobe Gamma would have
fixed anything (maybe someone else can explain what is going on with that).
Most monitor profiling packages (probably all of them!) don't play nice
with Adobe Gamma as you start having LUT wars...Adobe Gamma is trying to
load its table to the card, OptiCal is wanting to load its own (via the
VCGT tag or a separate loading utility at startup).
I've had a few run-ins with bad instruments (Spyder) where the yellows were
really exaggerated. ColorVision promptly replaced them and now all is well.
I suspect the calibration part of the process is fine, but your profile is
bad. This is why things look ok when displayed in a non-ICC savy
application like Internet Explorer or PictureViewer (Preview in OS X...or
is that ICC savy now?). I'd suggest maybe borrowing another instrument and
see if the yellow cast goes away (if you know someone that has one), or
contact ColorVision and tell them about your problem (or look for an X-Rite
DTP92!).
