Calibration of a HP5500N

Hallo List,

I want to calibrate a HP5500N. The printer-driver isn't supported by a real colormanagement-modul like Bestcolor does or even the printer-driver for the HP10ps where you can load all necessary in- and output-profiles with rendering intents. In the printer-features there is the option to check the box to "none". I think that is the option to print the calibration-target not using any icc-profiles. Is that true? Do I have to the colormatching in the application like Photoshop, QuarkXPress, InDesign? But than I will have problems with the EPS-files! The way to generate a PDF in AdobeAcrobat 5 and do the colormanagement here works well, but seems to be circumstantial.

What is the story about the icc-profiles name - I heard that the printer-driver of the hp 500 (rip-software: Adobe CPSI) doesn't allow custom names because of a software-bug. This means, that the original icc-profile has to be deleted and the custom-profile needs to be renamed. Is it the same with the HP5500N?

Is there anybody who has calibrated his HP5500N with good results?

Thanks in advance.

Steffen Matt
