The philosophy of QuarkXPress is based on client-server prepress and dates from the late eighties when the hot news was that digital image stripping had replaced analog image stripping.

Generate PDF in InDesign, use PDF/X-3 Inspector if you wish in order to include an OutputIntent profile, and use GretagMacbeth iQueue in order to convert into the color space of the destination digital proofing device.
