Roger,
Simply drag the Adobe GAmma Loader out of your Programs/Startup folder or
delete it. You can also remove the reference to the profile it produces from
the Registry in Hkey_Local Machine/Software/Adobe/Color/Monitor/Monitor 0 or
1, where the profile Adobe Monitor Settings.icm will be listed. Whether this
reference has any effect after you've loaded your new profile I'm not
certain, but I play safe and remove it.
Bob Frost.

Does anyone know how to remove Adobe Gamma on a Windows XP pro
installation?

It was probably installed by the Photoshop 7 Installer.

It does not show up in the "Add/Remove Programs" Control Panel.
