I believe i understand that one should use EITHER the PS colour
management and therefore choose Same as Source in the Espon printer
driver window OR use the printer colour management or the printer
profile
and no colour adjustment in the printer driver window. IS that
correct??
There are two ways to do it, and the one you want to use is have
Photoshop do it, and leave the printer driver out of it. What makes it
confusing if you're using OS 9 is that Photoshop tacks on its Source
Space and Print Space onto the bottom of the print driver dialog.
That's application-level color management even though it appears in the
driver window. That's what you want to use. Then make sure that in the
Advanced section of the printer driver you set Color Management to "No
Color Adjustment."
I have a Photoshop Printing Tipsheet I just did that's on the Real
World Color Management site in the downloads section. I only had room
to cover OS X and Windows, but the concept is the same for OS 9. We
have OS 9 screenshots in the book - Real World Color Management.
(in Photoshop's Print w/ Preview)
When you talk about setting the Print space I assume that in PS6 this
is
"proof set up" correct?
No, I mean Print Space, which is added onto the Epson printer driver
(in OS 9). That's where you select your printer profile.
and there I should chose my SP2200 Standard
....what is the difference between MK and PK?
I only have Epson profiles that end in PK. So someone else will need to
answer that. Probably the difference between using Matte Black and
Photo Black. Anyone?
You specifically say
Black point compensation OFF
in the photoshop set up
The only place I see that is under color set up in PS6
Is that what you are recommending in PS6 with OS 9.2 for an Epson2200?
AND please pray tell how does one choose between Conversion engines
Adobe
ACE and Apple Colorsync or Apple CMM?
Photoshop 7 an explicit option for Black Point Compensation, Photoshop
6 does not. I'll need to defer to someone else as to whether or not
Photoshop's color management at print time uses black point
compensation and ACE always, or if it uses the setting in Color
Settings. I forget.
