I have the exact same problem! (on a 7700GX machine)

I also noticed the pc/mac difference but I thought I was imagining things at
the time!
Apparently I am not insane after all... Phew ;-)

Had a tech here to look at it but he found nothing.

By the way, does anybody know how to select custom made target profiles in
Phasermatch? It seems I can only choose the canned ones.
