Best?...most classic apps can't find that folder.
Classic? Well that's true, but I was explaining MacOSX.
If you put all your profiles in your
OS9>SystemFolder>ColorsyncProfilesFolder and place an alias for this
folder in the /Library/ColorSync folder (and others)
You don't need aliases in all the folders. If you really feel you have
to, just put one alias in your /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/ folder.
The four domains are additive, so you'll see everything in network and
in system and in home and in slash.
But still I don't recommend doing that, because not only do you have to
make an alias, you also have to remove duplicates and that's
potentially dangerous if you remove the wrong ones. Just leave the X
files the way they are and don't worry about having all your profiles
in one place. It really isn't one operating system, it's two operating
systems living on the same drive. Frankly we're lucky to be able to
run MacOS9 at the same time as MacOSX. Well, I don't know if that's
lucky or not, in some ways I wish you had to boot into 9 separately
from booting into X, it'd keep things clearer. I think it's better to
keep them separate in your head and separate on your drive. I know
it's convenient to be able to run Classic, Carbon and Cocoa apps side
by side, no argument there, but it does muddy the distinction between
the two environments.
