The color is just what you see, want and get. It's far less time and far
better quality to simply use Camera Raw and Thomas's method of gettting the
data into the preferred RGB Working Space.

You have to BUY a target and BUY some software, then you need to build the
profile. If you want extra steps to complicate your life, go for it.
Otherwise, Camera Raw eliminates these steps and costs. If you have time and
money to burn....

We don't know what Camera Raw assumes. Some of us do know what results it
produces. That's the bottom line. It works really well!

Only time will tell. But given the option of buying a product that produces
really superb color for $99, I'd go that route first. I suspect 95% of users
will find the "problems" are solved. If it ain't broke, why fix it? Again,
if you can find a compelling reason to spend a good $300-$600 more, go for
it. I haven't. And I'm very happy that dealing with shooting, building and
using camera profiles isn't anything I have to worry about (at least with
the 1Ds and Camera Raw... I certainly can't speak for all raw captures). The
less junk I have to deal with to get great color, the better.
