So how about we just compare apples and elephants. How long it takes to
build a profile target file has nothing to do with how long it takes to use
it, compared to how long it might take to get the color right using Camera
Raw. Since the photographer will make a good target file once , then build a
profile that will save time over and over again, who cares how long it takes
to build. It is also possible that the camera in question was not recording
the target evenly. From discussions the photographer it appears that is
indeed part of the problem. It is also interesting to note that the
photographer came to markedly different conclusions than Mr. Rich seems to
have reached about ColorEyes verses Camera Raw, and they were in the same
room. So do we believe photographers or shall we go with consultants who
don't shoot or light? To put a fine point on this Adobe Raw assumes all D1x
cameras are the same. They are not. Does it reach a reasonable compromise.
It will with certain cameras but not with many we have tested. As for the
conclusion that AR seems to work better than profiles, that is a. not at all
the conclusion we have found, and b, much of what I have read on other
forums comes to the same conclusion. I know it's sad but the death of camera
profiles has been just a wee bit exaggerated for the benefit of Adobe.
