to UV filter or not to UV filter...

With the new version of ProfileMaker it is now possible to correct for any
optical brighteners in the paper, allegedly making a UV cutoff filter
unnecessary (when spectral measurements are taken). Has anyone had any
experience to the contrary? Does the optical brightener correction in the
software really work? I've always had a UV cutoff filter in place and am
hesitant to remove it.
