Thanks to the many fine contributes to this excellent list for all
they have shared. I am a photographer and as I don't have an Epson
printer (use the Fuji Picto) I've been shy to comment here in the
bigs. I have never written a book, unless you count something from
the forth grade, annual reports and all the other bird cage liners I
worked on, but have been an avid colorsync reader (both a tonic and
cure for insomnia.) for a long time.
A digital capture is only as good as the camera profile that stands
behind it. I never have had one that I have been really happy with,
until now. I have been shooting digitally for over eight years.
The new Coloreyes 20/20 software photoshop plug in makes profiles
that are terrific, making all the profiles I have attempted to make
and had made by bona fide experts in the past pale in comparison to
what our latest 20/20 profiles are. The software, once the explicit
set up has been completed makes camera profiles that are brilliant.
Its well worth the money and time. To me this is the Mac Daddy.
Our test images of products and flesh tones quite literality blew us
out of the water. Finally I feel that I have the real deal in my
captures. Less postproduction color correction work will be the most
evident payback. Of course we charge for postproduction but a better
jumping off point into the sometimes hard to finesse world of four
colors is a wonderful thing.
The cameras profiled and tested are the Nikon D1x and the Imacon
3020. In the past I have measured my Mac Beth chart to build a custom
N.cie file for that specific chart. I have prayed to St. Jude. I
have tired a lot of products. In fairness to what may now also be
available I have not tried everything. Using the big target with
20/20 I am finally happy. . If your are a digital photographer you
may well want to consider this software. Can the canned profiles.
Best to the best,
Warren Roos
