In that case - Try Zapping the Pram!
Oh God! SCSI snowballs. Let's review:
When I first installed Jaguar, the system refused to boot. After many,
many, many hours on tech-lines (Apple has the best "hold" music) and
several days of trouble-shooting, it was discovered that A) if there is a
ATI PCI card installed, along with a non-ATI AGP card (nVidea), Jaguar
will not boot, and B) even after that situation is resolved, the Mac
still wouldn't boot with a 2906 installed - so I switched to an extra
2930 that I had.
When I decided to move my system and applications from one of the twin
ATA drives that came with my Mac to an internal high-speed IBM UltraStar
(15K rpm) connected to an Adaptec 29160, I found, once the system was
installed, that a QuickSilver Mac cannot boot from a drive connected to a
29160. So after a ton of tech-time, Adaptec walked me through an Open
Firmware reconfiguration that allowed the QS Mac to recognize a system
folder on the 29160/UltraStar.
Now, if I reset my PRAM, I've got to do the whole routine again - boot
from a CD, do the O/F fiddling, etc.. As a matter of fact, if I'm
remembering this correctly, I had to install a system on one of the other
drives in order to do this.
So you're telling me to zap the PRAM. Is this a wild guess, or a sure thing?
