I know Adobe has been showing around a general-purpose raw decoder, they
are only 4 years late on this issue. How it would solve color issues I
fail ro understand.
I have the greatest respect for Adobe, they provide solid proven
technology in an almost useable form at an affordable price. However, they
have failed to tackle the sharpening and noise-reduction issues involved
in digital phtography, in any significant way, as one glance at any image
processing textbook will show you.
The reason for this sluggishness is that Adobe is basically a prepress
company. They are neither competent nor interested in image capture, in
spite of Photoshop's snazzy name. On the other hand, they have written the
book, literally, on the details of getting pixels to paper.
