Hi Anthony, your endeavors sound like my attempts from over a year
ago. Back then I was trying to get my Opal Ultra to work under
whatever OS X version was current and my 400 MHz AGP. I gave up.
After reading the thread your started I decided to try with my
QuickSilver and Jaguar. I had no luck either. The post regarding the
FireWire to SCSI adapter made me give it another stab with my
Microtech FireSCSI adapter. After a little tease early on that failed
too. The lamp would come on when I did an Overview Scan but after a
few seconds Linocolor would report and illegal settings error. I
tried this when running Jaguar as well as when booted into OS 9. This
little adapter came through for me a couple of weeks ago with an
external 40 MB (yes, MegaByte) hard drive that came from a Mac SE
with who knows what OS. I hooked the drive up to a new iBook via the
adapter and it mounted up in Jaguar with no drivers needed to be
installed.
BTW, VueScan did work with my Opal Ultra via the FireWire adapter.
Good Luck!
Gary Smith
