It all depends how accurate you require your matching to be. You could set
up your studio area up to ISO 3664 or12646 spec but I'm sure your colleagues
would have something to say about being plunged into darkness! A good
Colorimeter and software will be able to measure your current ambient light
when characterizing your monitor. Typically you would need to get your
lighting down to below 50 lux if you are calibrating to Gamma 1.8.
