Anyone have any experience with either Solarism or Formac
LCD displays?
They've got great specs but relatively low profiles.
Apple LCDs consistently get rave reviews, followed by some
comments on
the La Cies. I believe Apple's 22" LCD with BasICColor
Display attained
SWOP-certification as soft-proofing solution, and I believe
the only
monitor to do so (although I don't see anything on swop.org
or
icscolor.com to back it up...). Sven from Sweden highly
praises the
Eizo Flexscan 18.1" 685EX and the 21.3" 985EX (21.3" not
available in
the US).
Any other winners out there?

I recommend the Eizo beacause I think it4s the only LCD where you can
move the RGB-figures without a DDC-cabel!
And they have a great viewing-angle with very small color-shifts. Boosts
up to 250cd/sqm.
But with a DDC-cabel all monitors which support that protocol behave
like a "smart" monitor. (for sure the Apple)
You set your targets and the software do the rest! No buttons. Compare
to CV/OC and others.
It4s so simple and we are lazy, so we use that cable also with the Eizo.
And what is a DDC?
"It4s cable that enables DDCci-compliant monitors to communicate
directly with supported software (like basICColor Display). The DDCci
protocol eliminates the need for users to subjectively set the
brightness, contrast and RGB gun settings. Cable connects between the
monitor and the CPU. The CPU end of the cable includes a pig-tail USB
connection."
Price: $60
Maybe the question should be:
Which LCD-monitor and software support the DDC-protocol?
