That's exactly what I said.

OK, fine. I haven't done any work with CMYK but I'd expect that would be
true like RGB.

Yes IF (we both cap). IF you drop the printer in the bath tub while bathing,
you COULD hose the printer and electrocute yourself. Having such a mismatch
as you outline above was never recommended that I know of.

I don't make this kind of s%*t up, I got this from ColorByte's programmers
(specifically the boss).

So your point is to turn off everything, fine. I don't see where there's a
disagreement so far...
Now I got news for you. I've opened a CMYK file and set everything to none
(with the exception of Display which you really can't). The image comes in
all scrambled no matter what settings (I can pick a CMYK paper profile) Bug
in OSX version? IF I pick a CMYK paper profile in Proofer, the image isn't
scrambled (but looks awful). There is no "None" in Printer Profile (even the
label "Select Correct Printer Profile" is a profile)! It seems to make no
difference what paper profile you apply (at least as far as the preview is
concerned). But with a tagged CMYK file, I think I do see a difference in
the preview when I try a different paper profile.

Duly noted.

Haven't tried that. I would kind of expect it could be problematic although
doing the conversions and then sending LAB may be worth looking into (but it
seems an extra step).

That's why 90% of images usually work better with RelCol but you don't know
until you look (or print which is a waste).

In Photoshop, yes. But using a RelCol with Paper White/Blank ink and BPC
seems to get closest but still doesn't match anywhere close enough.

Set ALL you Input Profiles (RGB & CMYK) (VECTOR & BITMAP) Boxes to NONE
IF you're profiling an RGB device and sending an RGB target, what is wrong
if you leave CMYK alone? Does it affect RGB? If you don't set Vector because
the file is a TIFF file (untagged), then what effect if any does not setting
Vector to none? Will the RGB Tiff sill output OK?

Why Vector also? Because you can have a EPS DCS RGB or CMYK Vector Target

But if you don't feed the RIP a Vector, does turning on and off this feature
have any effect on bitmap files?

In the case of a MISMATCH this is clear. Now what about the case where there
isn't a mismatch?
