Lee took the words right out of my mouth, I don't know enough about the
situation but if you had the machines all profiled for a certain paper
type, you could have a problem if you recently bought a new supply of
your media. It's not impossible that the coatings on the paper changed,
or something else that has contributed to the difference you are seeing.
As far as the inks, you can never be 100% sure about the inks in the
1280, 960, and 890. The batch to batch consistency seems ok, I know they
make an effort on the PG machines to keep the inks very consistent for
more professional applications. I've burned through about a million 2200
carts, and so far so good. The 5500 was never a problem in that regard
either, making sure that the paper transport doesn't crap out is the
biggest problem with that printer.
