Into the black hole of the thousands of other bugs the Safari team was
swamped with when it was first released. Remember the "Report bugs to
Apple" menu item? It's still there. Kind of like...well it's too
late, I can't think of an interesting analogy. Maybe next time. Like
presenting a huge number of desirable things to a huge mass of people
that want them.
Keep in mind that although this is an Apple sponsored list, and
sometimes people from Apple read it, shockingly enough we don't have
complete control over every application everyone at Apple writes. So
even if there's a bug we'd like to have fixed, we can't always get it
fixed, and even when we can it doesn't always happen when we'd like it
to.
But as far as this bug goes...try installing a developer CD of Panther.
