The only way I can think of to illustrate the 16 bit pipeline of
ImagePrint is to generate a 16 bit profile with Monaco Profiler. These
profiles ALWAYS leave a printed dot at paper white values. ImagePrint
can print the .4 that is specified as the paper white, IP prints the
fractional values and therefore much more than simply 256 values with
their 8000+ screens. The Epson printers also in my opinion would be
easier to profile if indeed they handled 16 bit data, I see no evidence
that they do work with 16 bit data given the results of profiling the
stock driver. I also do not see the scum dot printing with the Epson
driver with a custom MonacoProfiler 16 bit profile which proves the
Epson driver at the very least does not have the precision of
ImagePrint. This is not a specific complaint to Monaco, I have not seen
this to be a problem with other RIPs profiled with Monaco, but I don't
know what it says about the precision of the other RIPs either..
