Most of the scanning we do in our shop is from negatives, both color and
black and white. We have been using a Scitex Eversmart Supreme, with which
we have had moderate success. Scanning black and white is not problematic,
but getting consistent, photographic quality scans from color negs has
always been extremely labor intensive, and not always very successful.
Specifically, it is difficult to get a good, clean, uncontaminated highlight
in images where there is no clear apparent highlight visibile.
Are there other devices out there with which users have been having good
success scanning color negs? We are looking into the Hell 3400 as an
option.
