Roger,
Compare the 6 outer boundary colors of bouth source and destination in
relative terms using Lab (100C, 100M, 100Y, 100C + 100C, 100M + 100Y,
100M +
100Y and 255 red, 255 green, 255 blue, 255 r + 255 g, and so on, as in
the
case of a printer and an RGB source) and calculate DeltaE ab. That
will get
you a rough, quick and overall numerical picture of the difference in
the
two gamuts.
That's where I'm unclear - how do you get the source reference file
from RGB to LAB? Bruce's method for scanners relies on the source
profile when making the conversion to LAB using the LAB space provided
by ProfileMaker. Thoughts?
Cheers,
Derek Cooper
