I have to ask these two questions about 'RAW' in the context of a D100.

Apart of Rob Galbraith type of forum, are there any newsgroups that you

with regards to operating a D100?
Roger,
The simplest explanation that I can think of is that if you shoot RAW, it is
like using film:
You do the "development" later on you computer. At that time you can tweak
all the settings and contra to film, if you do not like the result, you can
do it again. Further, if you do not like one "developer", you can switch to
another software package.
Regarding the WB settings: They are attached to the RAW format so you can
use them if you like but you can also choose whatever you want before
"developing".
If you shoot JPG or TIFF, it is like Polaroid: The "development" is done in
the camera and there are no second chances.
I like the extra flexibility and its much better chance to recover a bad
shot, so I always use the RAW format.
As for usergroup, I do not know about the D100 but many users on the D1 mail
list also have them. There is lots of good info there and it is very
professionally run. See:

It is a little difficult to sign up but the list owner is trying to keep it
"clean".
