OK, that enables me to be more specific... When I commented that those are
colors the printer is perfectly capable of printing, I should have said it
is capable of printing bright reds and blues (in the example in my original
msg) when not using the profile. Ex: A bright red balloon is still bright
red; using the profile it is a bit orange. The profiles seem to reduce the
bright colors the printer would otherwise print. Of course, w/o the profile,
there are many other problems, especially trying to get results close to
what I expect.

To answer the next question: yes, the profile shows those reds and blues as
out of gamut when softproofing in PS & using the gamut warning. However,
even some of the blues still in gamut are shifting towards purple. Either my
eyes are fooling me on the non-profile prints, or the profile is limited
more than it should be.

From your reply, it looks like I'm running into a limitation of profiling
that needs to be worked around. I expected the out of gamut colors to be
mapped to something closer to the actual color than what is happening. I
should go in search of more articles regarding dealing with out of gamut
colors. :)
