Not sure if this has been discusssed before but I am having a delima on
where it is best to do the rgb to cmyk conversion. I run BestColor
ColorProof where I can save an rgb file with the embedded profile and
let
best do the rgb to cmyk stuff, or I can convert in PS then save down the
cmyk file and turn off all the color management stuff in best.
Advantages
disadvantages to doing it either way? Or as a third option I can print
from
PhotoShop and assign printer profile... I am looking for a good solid
workflow for my fine art repro business.
One major benefit of a color managed workflow is the ability to
disconnect the source and destination profiles in your files. I would
suggest proofing with the output profile in Photoshop but printing the
RGB file to the Best and let the transformation happen in the Rip. This
prevents the need to keep two copies of the file (assuming you always
want to archive the RGB) in archive. If the Rip is set up correctly it
should give the identical results to processing in Photoshop.
