I've never fully understood how this works and would appreciate an
explanation of how this happens. It seems as if there are too many profiles
in the Display folder in my ColorSync folder (System 9). Since I have two
monitors there are a total of four profiles in there. Two are named Display
profile 25x (where x is anything from 6 to 8) and the other two are generic
things like SonyE100 and elect22b3, which are aliases to the
afore-mentioned Display Profile 25x profiles. What is the rationale behind
making these "copies" and why aren't they named something a little less
confusing? It makes troubleshooting monitor profile problems more
complicated than it needs to be.
