Profiling a newsprint press / subsequent profile editing

I'm in the process of measuring a series of test charts that our local
newspaper was kind enough to run out for us. I'm going to generate several
profiles (with ProfileMaker) and was wondering if I should plan on any
subsequent editing of the profile, like a paper white edit or something to
that effect. For example there seems to be a very slight scum (like a 1%
dot) over the imagable area of the paper and I didn't know if this should
get edited out or not. The whole Pandora's box of profile editing isn't
something I'm very (read "hardly") familiar with, and editing the source
profile doesn't seem like something one would want to do anyway.
If anybody has any thoughts on this or wants to make any suggestions I'm
all ears!
