Paul,
When 4.0 was released, Quark incorporated automatic conversion to CMYK as a new feature,
presumably at the behest of their prepress users.
Suffice it to say that those of us working in an RGB workflow complained to such an
extent that Quark quietly sent us copies of a "Print RGB" XTension as a means of allowing
RGB output from Quark (being Quark is never having to say you're sorry).
Version 4.1 was redesigned to provide, in the "Output" tab of the "Page Setup/Print"
dialog box, the option of printing in either RGB or CMYK. You'll have to track down a
copy of "Print RGB," to do the same in 4.0.
At least, this my best best recollection of the Quark quirk you describe.
Cheers,
Richard
